The Single Life: Waiting

If you’re single, you may have been asked a variety of this question: “Why are you not married yet?” This is a question I’ve been asked by my brother, sister, cousins, neighbors and more. While my friends have asked, “Are you dating?” The answer is two months from now it will be exactly 4 years since I last went out on a date. (Well there was one time that someone did a magic trick date with me so that doesn’t count.)

There also have been a couple of suggestions as to why I’m not in a relationship or not dating... Some say it’s because I’m intimidating, others say I shouldn't wait for the guys to ask me out and so on. I have waited quite a while and one question runs through my head, “Should I lower my standards after waiting so long?”

I learned from a very wise man before that there are two wills of God: Permissive and Perfect will. The first is something that God allows because we bug Him too much while the other is what we get when we wait for His Perfect timing.

In the most "erotic" book in the Bible, Song of Songs 2:7 "Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires." Until I'm ready I’ll sit as still as I can and wait.
